Waterstone College Skills Development

Various schools and clubs rely on volunteers (often parents) to coach children in their chosen sports. These volunteers are few which leads to the number of teams chosen, kept to a minimum.
This results in many children not being given the opportunity to participate in sports, as they do not ‘make the grade’. Consequently these children become totally inactive and spend too muchof their spare time in front of the television and playing Play Station.
Further to this, whether your child is a good or mediocre player, time for coaching is often limited and there is little focus on the finer points that so often make a difference in aplayer’s ability.
We aim to fill these gaps in coaching but must stress that we are neither an academy nor a club. Our objective is to take children in their chosen sport and enhance their SKILLS. These can then be put into practice at their clubs and/or schools, giving some a better opportunity to be chosen for a team or, for the already accomplished player, enhancing their abilities.
Further to this we will instill a sporting discipline as well as encourage good sportsmanship, which the children can then carry through onto the sports field.
A child’s overall attitude towards the game is vital in sport. We offer clinics which are held on a Saturday over a 4 week period as well as a 5-day clinic held during school holidays.
We endeavour to obtain the best coaches in all fields who have a passion for the sport as well as an understanding of children.
Weaim to have a maximum of 8 children per coach but, if needed, one on one coaching can be arranged.

· Sunday 15th March – U/8A and U/8B, U/12 and U/14
· Registrations for teams: 7:30am – 8:30am
· Games start at 9am
· Day will end at around 2pm (Dependant on how many teams sign up)
· Each team will play between 5 and 8 games
· ALL PLAYERS MUST BE AT ALBERTON FOOTBALL CLUB ON THE DAY BY NO LATER THAN 8AM!!!

· What to bring:
o Kit to play (all players MUST where shin guards and proper kit or they will not be allowed to play.)
o Suntan lotion (Already applied)
o Lunch and drinks for the day (Refreshments will be on sale but it is usually fun to pack a picnic basket for the day)
o R35 entrance fee per player (Please try pay on Wednesday evening)
o Picnic blanket and chairs to relax on between games.
o For more info please ask your coaches/team managers.

We have registered the teams to play in pools that will vary from the divisions we enter the teams into for the league. This is to ascertain the strength of our players against some of the better teams so that we do not enter into divisions we are either to strong for or perhaps to weak for.

Unfortunately there is no tournament for the U/16’s this weekend. We will be trying to set something up for you guys to play against in the next few weeks.
